Very commonly, babies are bothered by diaper rash, a painful reaction that can cause them to cry. How to prevent and treat this discomfort?

Diaper rash is inflammation caused by baby's skin coming into contact with a diaper soiled by stool or urine, according to the Birth and Grow website. It could also be caused by irritation from detergent or fabric softener.

To better relieve baby of diaper rash, here are some symptoms to observe:

  • buttocks red, hot and painful;
  • red patches, sometimes lined with small red dots, on the buttocks, thighs and genitals.

How to Prevent and Treat Diaper Rash

They say that prevention is better than cure, so for the prevention of diaper rash, there is nothing better than changing the baby's diaper regularly and avoiding squeezing them. Similarly, quality is essential in the choice of the baby's diaper. However, if you prefer washable ones, the bamboo, hemp or microfiber qualities are more absorbent than the cotton ones.

If your baby suffers from diaper rash, here are some recommendations to relieve it:

  • wash baby's bottom with mild soap and warm water preferably to reduce irritation, or use unscented wet wipes;
  • use an unscented protective balm;
  • leave the buttocks in the open air as often as possible.

Take care of yourself and your little one and enjoy this beautiful fleeting moment, in peace.
