All-in-one diapers (TE1)

All-in-one diapers are installed the same way as disposable diapers. They require no assembly. The absorbent part is integrated into the waterproof pants. For more absorption, it is also possible to add liners directly in the diaper.

Features: This is the easiest diaper to use. This is a great model to use in daycare. Drying time may be longer, depending on the material of construction.

Pocket diapers

Pocket diapers consist of two parts: the waterproof panty which is equipped with a pocket and the absorbent lining which is installed in this pocket.

Features: This is a good model to use in daycare because they are just as easy to use as disposable diapers. They dry quickly since the lining is separated from the diaper when washing. It is possible to use pocket diapers as an all-in-two diaper by placing the liner directly in the diaper, on the pocket, on the baby's bottom. When changing the diaper, it is then possible to change only the liner if the waterproof pants are not wet. The inside of waterproof pants is usually made of suede or microfleece, which forms a barrier against moisture.

Preformed diapers

Preformed diapers are shaped like disposable diapers. We tie them up and then add a diaper cover that you don't have to change every time. By adding a sheet of microfleece, we form a barrier against humidity.

Features: These diapers are generally more economical than pocket diapers and all-in-ones since few diaper covers are needed. They are most effective in preventing leaks during the night or on long rides.

Flat layers

Flat diapers are large rectangles of fabric to fold in thirds. The folded diaper is then placed in a diaper cover. By adding a sheet of microfleece, we form a barrier against humidity.

Characteristics: These nappies are the most economical and dry very quickly. They are easy to use and have a good level of absorption. It is also possible to use them as liners in other types of diapers.

The main materials used in the manufacture of cloth diapers

Cotton : Cotton is a flexible, soft and comfortable fabric. It is the most economical material. It is more eco-friendly when it comes to organic cotton as no pesticides are used.

Hemp : Hemp is a soft, thin and absorbent fabric. Its natural fibers breathe well, are antifungal and antibacterial. It is grown without fertilizers and pesticides.

Bamboo : Bamboo is the most absorbent fabric. It is also soft, thin and breathes well. Its fibers are naturally antibacterial and antifungal. It is grown without fertilizers and pesticides. It renews itself quickly

Microfiber : Microfibers are synthetic textile fibers that are highly valued for their high absorption capacity and their ability to dry quickly.

Micro fleece and suede : Micro fleece (100% polyester) and suede are used in the manufacture of diapers to create a moisture barrier to keep baby's bottom dry.

PUL (Laminated Polyurethane) : PUL is a waterproof fabric mainly used for diaper covers, pocket diapers or all-in-ones.

Some definitions

One-size-fits- all diapers: one size, from birth to potty training

Multi-size diaper : several sizes available (extra small, small, medium, large, very large)

Diaper attachment systems : snappi (flat diapers), Velcro or press studs

Disposable sheets: Biodegradable sheets allow you to simply collect stools and then flush them down the toilet. Some are disposable and some are washable. It should be noted that throwing stools in the toilet is the most ecological way to dispose of them. Manufacturers of disposable diapers even write it on the packaging.

Liner : The liner is the absorbent part of the pocket diaper. By being a separate part from the rest of the coat, it allows for generally faster drying. It increases the level of absorption of the diaper. It is possible to obtain them separately according to our needs.

Diaper cover: Diaper covers are the waterproof part of preformed (molded) diapers and flat diapers. Some models adjust with press studs or a Velcro strip, while others slip on like panties. Wool or fleece diaper covers allow better air circulation.

Number of diapers to buy :

Until the age of three months, a baby uses between 10 and 12 diapers a day.

Babies from three to six months use between 8 and 10 diapers a day.

From six months, babies use between 6 and 8 diapers a day.

It is therefore necessary to plan about 24 diapers to wash every 2 to 3 days, if you buy cloth diapers from the birth of the baby. If your child is over 6 months old, a set of 18 diapers may be sufficient.
